Every years, the IAS proclaims a competition for assigning lodging fellowships to four foreign Ph.D. students admitted to a Ph.D. School at University of Bologna.
Article 1
In order to foster the intellectual mobility and the participation of foreign students to the activity of the Ph.D. Schools of the University of Bologna, the Institute of Advanced Studies (IAS) announces a call for the year 2011 for four lodging fellowships at Residenza di Studi Superiori to be assigned by a selection based on qualifications and interview.
Article 2
The selection is reserved to foreign citizens, not resident in Italy, admitted to a PhD. School at the University of Bologna for the academic year 2010-11.
Article 3
The lodging fellowship provides for a free accommodation in a mini-apartment shared with another Ph.D. student or senior student of the Collegio Superiore at the Residenza di Studi Superiori.
The mini-apartment are completely equipped and at Residenza it is possible to access to the IT network and the libraries on line.
Ph.D. students who will attend Ph.D. Schools located out of Bologna, renouncing to the accommodation at the Residenza di Studi Superiori will receive, on demand, a monthly statement of 200 Euro, as allowance for their accommodation expenses
Article 4
Selected candidates will be required to:
- Deposit at the IAS library a copy of their Ph.D. dissertation;
- Acquire, by IAS resources, a knowledge of italian at least of intermediate level;
- Active follow the cultural activity and participate to all seminars and other scientific events organized by IAS and Collegio Superiore;
- Present a final relation about developed activities and achieved results, with the tutor evaluation.
Article 5

Candidates must use the application form and completely fill it in. A receipt confirmation will be sent to each candidate, in case the confirmation is not received please notify it to the addresses segreteria.isa@unibo.it and secretary.isa@unibo.it
In their application candidates must declare:
- Surname and name ;
- Date and place of birth;
- Permanent address;
- Citizenship ;
- Achieved university qualification, with evaluation and date;
and attach the following documents:
- curriculum vitae et studiorum;
- short presentation (max 2 pages) of the thesis dissertation, with a reference letter of the supervisor or other foreign Professor;
- short description (max 300 words) of the Ph.D. research project to be developed at Bologna Athenaeum, with indication of possible links with Institutions or others referees for the research project (tutor);
- reference letter of the supervisor at the University of Bologna.
Applications can be written in Italian or English. All documents should be sent as a single file (Word .doc, Word .docx or Rich Text Format .rtf).

Article 6
The pre-selection will be carried out referring to all the elements reported in the application.
Candidates who will have passed the pre-selection will have to sustain an interview that will be carried out in Italian or English, chosen from the candidate.
It is anyway required an English knowledge.
The interview will be held with a committee composed of the Director of the Institute of Advanced Studies, the pro-rector to the International Relations (or his delegated) and the Director of Collegio Superiore.
At the end the Committee will draft a short list of the candidates in order of merit. The first four candidates in the short list will be declared winners. In case of renunciation of the winners the fellowship will be offered to the other candidates following the order of merit in the short list.
Article 7
The present announcement will be posted to the Albo Ufficiale of the Athenaeum of Bologna (Via Zamboni 33) from July 20 to the end of the selection process. This publication will have a legal publicity value.
