The research activity is focused on the numerical modeling of the ocean circulation from the global to the coastal scales in order to improve our capability to predict and understand the currents and to simulate the coupled physical-bio-geo-chemical marine cycles. The work has concentrated on the development of the observational and modeling system for the prediction of currents over the entire Mediterranean Sea , the development of data assimilation techniques for forecasting and the development of numerical ecosystem modeling.
