Professor of African Studies, Department of Politics, Institutions and History, University of Bologna

Professor of History and Institutions of Sub-Saharan Africa. Main research interests: State, Nation, Political systems and Democratization in Sub-Saharan Africa. Field research and teaching from 1970 in West Africa and Tanzania ( University of Dar Es Salaam ), and from 1980 in Southern Africa (Centro de Estudos Africanos, Eduardo Mondlane University, Maputo, Mozambique). Director of the inter faculty Degree course in International Development and Cooperation (SVIC). Member of the Council of the Doctorate in International Cooperation and Sustainable Development, University of Bologna . Director of the Amilcar Cabral Center , (library, documentation, conferences on Africa , Asia , Latin America ).
